Corporate FAQ
What is telemedicine?
Telemedicine is the virtual delivery of health care services and clinical information using telecommunications technology via telephone or computer using Internet by direct communication between patient and doctor not within a hospital or clinic but from home or office across different cities and countries.
Which services does Panmedical provide?
Four types of services are provided: (1) Urgent Care can be provided for urgent illnesses (like fever, cough, rash, urinary infections, sinus infections, allergies, diarrhea, and injuries) (2) Disease Management (like diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, asthma, emphysema, obesity, psychiatric disorders etc) (3) Second Opinions can be sought from experts in the US for a fraction of the cost of traveling for conditions like cancer treatment, neurosurgery, heart disease, kidney failure etc. (4) Psychiatry consultations for mental illness with complete privacy and confidentiality.
Is it safe?
Yes. Extensive research has been done that has proven telemedicine to be safe and effective. Though it is not meant to replace the face-to-face visit with a doctor, it can be a very cost-effective component of comprehensive medical care.
How does it work?
Patients communicate with a doctor from home or office without having to go to a clinic or hospital for an appointment. Instead a ‘virtual consultation’ can be scheduled during which the doctor and patient interact with each other on the telephone, video chat, messenger chat or e-mail.
Do I have my own account with my medical records?
Yes we provide a free personalized electronic health record (EHR) system that you can access and update as you want. Having all your reports, X rays and other imaging as well as doctors notes uploaded in one place will help you take better care of your health and share it with anyone you want including doctors not on the Panmedical panel. We maintain strict privacy and confidentiality and DO NOT share any information without your explicit permission.
Do I talk to a real doctor?
Yes, you talk to real doctors using phone, video chat, or e-mail. Most doctors are trained and certified in India but for second opinions you can choose from doctors trained in the USA at a fraction of the cost it would take to travel to USA.
What do I need to consult a doctor on Panmedical?
You need a smart phone or computer for video consultations, a regular phone for audio only calls, and email ID for email consultations.
I don't have a computer or smart phone. Can I still get service?
Yes. You can request an audio consultation on the phone and the doctor will call you to discuss your problem for as long as you need, including medication advice.
I only have a smart phone but no computer. How can I consult a doctor?
You can access the Panmedical website on you smart phone and request a consultation from a doctor.
I have health insurance. Will it pay for telemedicine services at Panmedical?
You can submit your invoice to the health insurance company for reimbursement after your consultation is complete. You should enquire about coverage prior to requesting a telemedicine consultation with us. We do not directly bill insurance on your behalf.
How much does it cost?
This is a free service at this time. You may have to pay for second opinions and the fees will depend on the specialist you need.
How can I pay?
There is no payment for regular consultations at this time. For second opinions you can pay using a debit or credit card, Internet banking, PayPal, PayTM, Google Pay, UPI, or Airtel Money.
Can I request a consultation for emergency?
If you are having a serious or life-threatening emergency please go to the nearest hospital as we provide non-emergency services.
Can I request a particular doctor?
Generally you will be assigned to a doctor. You may request a specific doctor if they are available.
How quickly can I get a response?
How long is a Psychiatry consultation?
Doctor will decide based on your need. Usually 30-60 minutes.
Can I discuss more than one problem during a consultation?
Yes, but you may need several consultations if you have many problems.
Can I use it for my family?
Yes we have specialists for all ages including pediatricians, gynecologists, and Internal Medicine specialists for older patients.
Can I get a prescription?
Yes, you will get a prescription. It is up to the doctor to recommend the best treatment. Our doctors do not issue prescriptions for narcotics and other controlled substances which may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. If the doctor thinks you need stronger medications, you may be referred to have an in-person visit with your personal doctor.
